The tray app
A small Windows app that sits by your clock. It carries the addon's notes to Ley Maps, keeps the addon up to date and brings your guides into the game. Set it up once and forget it.
What it does for you
Signs you in with Battle.net
No password of ours. Battle.net only tells us your account id and BattleTag. Installing and signing in.
Uploads what's new
When WoW saves the addon's file (on /reload, logout or quit), the tray reads it
as plain data, never running it, and uploads only what changed. Offline, it waits and tries
again. How uploading works.
Keeps the addon current
It installs the Ley Maps addon into your WoW folder and updates it when a new version is out. If an update misbehaves, it can roll back to the one before.
Brings your guides in
Guides you ask for are written into the game every few minutes, or at once with Sync guides now. The in-game guide.
Updates itself
New versions of the tray download in the background and install when you restart it.
The tray menu
Right-click the tray icon:
| Item | What it does |
|---|---|
| Open Ley Maps | The tray's window: status, recent activity and settings |
| Upload now | Uploads anything waiting without waiting for the next save |
| Sync guides now | Fetches your newest guides into the game straight away (then /reload) |
| Check for updates | Looks for a new tray version |
| Pause uploads | Holds uploads until you resume; nothing is lost |
| Open logs folder | The tray's logs, handy when something isn't right |
Testing an addon build by hand? Quit the tray first: it keeps the installed addon at the released version and would put that back.
