The GPS
Directions from where you really stand to wherever you're going: a guide step, a town, an inn, a bank or your trainer. It picks the quickest way and talks you through the roads.
How it picks a route
It weighs every way of travelling your character has right now:
On foot, mounted or in a form
Running, your mount once you have riding, or Travel Form, Ghost Wolf and Aspect of the Cheetah when you know them.
Flight paths
Only the ones you've learned, with flight times from real recorded flights. In the air the arrow points at where you'll land.
Boats, zeppelins and the tram
Including Forever's new ships: Stormwind Harbor to Auberdine, the Menethil, Southshore and Auberdine loop (one way round), Steamwheedle Port to the Riverglades, and the zeppelins to Zephras Isle.
Your hearthstone and teleports
Used when it's ready (or nearly) and really saves time: it lands at the inn you're bound to. Mage teleports count when you know them.
It plans again whenever things change: you land, take a loading screen, mount up, learn a flight path, or wander off the route.
Following the roads
Walking legs follow a hand-drawn map of every road, trail, city street, lift and tunnel in Azeroth, so the GPS sends you along the road instead of straight over a mountain.
The arrow looks ahead
It points about 80 yards along the road, so it bends round corners with you, and shows the yards left by road.
Turn by turn
The arrow and the guide window say the next move: "In 200 yd, turn left at Tarren Mill toward Arathi Highlands", and the zones the road goes through.
On the map and minimap
Open the world map to see your whole route drawn on it; dots on the minimap mark the next stretch of road.
Stray more than about 60 yards off the road for 10 seconds and it re-plans from where you are. Short walks, and places with no road near, go in a straight line.
Going somewhere: /ley go
The guide sets the GPS's destination for you. /ley go sends it anywhere else, with or
without a guide; /ley go off hands back to the guide.
| Command | Goes to |
|---|---|
/ley go Tarren Mill |
A town: its inn, the heart of town (your side's or a neutral one) |
/ley go Orgrimmar |
A city: the gate on your way in (inside it, its centre) |
/ley go Orgrimmar fm |
A city's flight master |
/ley go Silverpine Forest |
A zone |
/ley go 52 41 · /ley go Tirisfal Glades 61 52 |
Map coordinates, on your map or a named one |
/ley go Apothecary Renferrel |
An NPC from your guides or that Ley Maps has seen |
/ley go inn |
The nearest inn that serves you |
/ley go bank · mailbox · ah ·
reagents · trade
|
The nearest bank, mailbox, auction house, reagent vendor or trade supplies vendor that serves your side |
/ley go trainer · /ley go mage trainer ·
/ley go alchemy
|
Your class trainer, another class's, or a profession trainer |
/ley go Deadmines · /ley go BRD · /ley go MC |
A dungeon or raid's entrance (the nearest one when there are several). Portal icons on the world map show them; hover for levels, Shift+right-click to go |
/ley town · /ley town Brill |
What a town has: inn, bank, auction house, mailboxes, trainers |
Town services are still filling in. Some towns don't list every bank, mailbox or trainer yet; when one isn't known the GPS says so rather than guessing.
Map points and trips
Open the world map and Shift+right-click anywhere: the GPS takes you there. Ctrl+Shift+right-click adds the spot as the next stop of a trip, so you can plan a whole run (herbs, the trainer, the flight master, the inn) and the GPS takes you through each stop in turn. Numbered pins show the stops on the map, and the tracker says which stop is next. A plain right-click still zooms the map out.
| Type | What it does |
|---|---|
/ley go add Tarren Mill |
Adds a stop by name or coordinates, like /ley go |
/ley trip |
Lists the stops |
/ley trip optimize |
Puts the stops in the quickest order; your last stop stays last |
/ley trip remove 2 · skip · clear |
Drops a stop, skips the next one, or ends the trip |
The trip is kept for each character, so a /reload or logging out doesn't lose it. A
plain /ley go replaces the trip with its one destination.
